We already covered the Ferrari Superamerica 45 in a post that preceded its big debut at Villa d’Este, but we had yet to see that quick-opening roof in action, or hear its V12 engine rev to its heart content.

All that’s about to change, as this sexy-looking supercar has been caught on film by a couple of YouTube users, who were kind enough to share it with the rest of the world.

The first video shows the one-off parked next to a Rolls Royce when it drops its top in the blink of an eye, without ever showing any preventions of shyness. This must be one of, if not the, fastest-opening hardtops we’ve ever seen, and its very impressive to see how it neatly stores over the boot of the car.

The only niggle we have with the Superamerica is that, should it rain and the top is down, you’re going to have to find a way of getting rid of the water if you don’t want it dumped on your head as you turn it back into a coupe.

The Superamerica 45 is an one-off made for Peter Kalikow, a Ferrari collector from New York, to celebrate his 45 years of Prancing Horse ownership. The Ferrari Superamerica 45 is styled internally by Ferrari Design. Engineered and built in-house on the 599’s Platform, the Superamerica 45 recently made its public debut on the May 21st, at Villa d’Este Concorso d’Eleganza 2011 this weekend.

The biggest change over the standard 599 is the carbon-fiber rotating hard-top which incorporates a rear screen. In the front, the Ferrari Superamerica 45 also features a specific chromed front grille, special burnished aluminum A-pillars, wing mirrors and door handles have also been added, matching the color combination on the wheels.

The Ferrari Store of Singapore celebrated September 23rd, 2010 its grand opening with a ceremony attended by Mr. Enrico Galliera, Ferrari Commercial & Marketing Director, Mr. Massimiliano Ferrari, Licensing and Retail Director, Mr. Edwin Fenech Ferrari APAC, Middle East and Africa CEO, and Mr. Teo Hock Seng, Managing Director of Ital Auto Pte who welcomed the guests together with the Scuderia Ferrari driver Felipe Massa.

The 170 square meters space is situated on one level in the spectacular ‘triple towers’ of the Marina Bay Sands Resort. Visitors will discover a wide range of lifestyle and luxury Ferrari products, together with a selection of items dedicated to Ferrari enthusiasts, children and collectors. These include miniatures and models of cars from past and present, a display case showcasing a crankshaft, valves and a piston, and the Cavallino collection of leather accessories and sportswear.

The design of the Ferrari Store Singapore reflects the Ferrari Atelier ambience of the main Ferrari showroom in Leng Kee Road, with furnishings of the highest quality and the combination of soft leather and sleek brushed lacquer. The display concept clearly evokes the dynamic lines of Ferrari’s legendary cars and characterises the story, tradition and spirit of Ferrari not only through the products on display, but also through finishes and materials that typify the two souls of luxury and racing.

The Singapore Ferrari Store will be managed by ItalAuto, which is also the official importer for the Prancing Horse in Singapore. This is the 38th store to open worldwide and it joins prestige Ferrari retail locations around the world, including those in Milan, Rome and Venice (Italy), London (UK), Barcelona (Spain), Athens (Greece), New York (USA), and Dubai (UAE), to name a few. The Ferrari Store development programme includes plans to reach the objective of 60 locations worldwide over the next two years in Europe, America, and the Middle and Far East.

Ferrari Store-New York

The Ferrari Store of New York, located on the corner of 55th Street and Park Avenue, celebrated its grand opening last Wednesday – with help from Zach Braff, Olivia Palermo, Matthew Settle and Justin Theroux – and showed off its collection of Ferrari-branded clothing and accessories in addition to its cars.

“A monobrand space is stronger than having two different brands from the same parent company,” Max Ferrari, Global Head of Licensing & Retail, told Huffington Post. “The idea was to make a very exclusive statement in New York, so we decided to put together the showroom of the cars and create a real store.”

But while some customers might think there’s no need for, say, a Ferrari-branded teddy bear or polo shirt or pair of sunglasses, the company’s North American president and CEO explained the purpose: indoctrinating kids into becoming Ferrari-lovers for life.

“The moment where a man or a women, any human being, defines his greatest aspirations and dreams are from 8 to 12,” Marco Mattiacci told New York Magazine of the brand’s strategy to feature children’s clothing and toys in the store.

From now on, those visiting the Ferrari Store will be able to chose from all types of Ferrari products (except cars, of course, but anyone can do that in the nearby showroom), including lifestyle, fan collections, miniatures, accessories, sportswear and so on.

So far, the Italian manufacturer operates, through Forza Retail, 5 official stores (including the NY one) in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Honolulu, and Miami. In the past two years, Ferrari engaged in a world wide offensive to open such locations across the world, with the target being to open 60 more the next two years all around the world.

By far the most exclusive store opened in early June in Dubai, on a 1,000 square meters of single-story floor space and after a considerable investment.

The unveiling of the Ferrari 599XX in New York

Last April 7th, Tuesday in Manhattan, New York at the local Ferrari and Maserati dealer on the South East corner of 55th street and Park Avenue the 599XX and the 599 GTB Fiorano with the Handling GTE package that was introduced in Geneva was making their North American debut.

The 599XX looks just as mean and aggressive as it did on the stand at the Geneva Motor Show, and it makes the standard 599 GTB Fiorano look downright ordinary and tame in comparison. The big coupe’s bodywork has been reworked with plenty of carbon fiber aerodynamic bits and the interior features a full race cockpit complete with lightweight Alcantara seats and a full roll cage, a marked change from the standard car’s leather-lined grand tourer accommodations.

The 599XX is strictly a track car and not for any kind of competition. Thus freed of all forms of law, Ferrari says it fitted the 599XX to the extreme with the best of its R & D for the street and Formula One technologies, including an engine bolstered to 700 hp and 9,000 rpm. It also gets lighter engine parts, including a new crankshaft, and the gearbox has been revised to produce shifts as fast as 60 milliseconds.

The 599XX records a Fiorano lap time of 1 minute, 17 seconds, and Ferrari said it’s organizing a program of dedicated track events for 2010-11 to allow for testing of the car. Expect about 20 to 30 of these to be made and to cost about $1.2 million each.

The 599XX will serve as a testbed for new technologies much like the Ferrari FXX, and those who wish to sample it will have to qualify for the exclusive Corse Clienti programme that is not only costly, but limited to select Ferrari clientele. Last year, the program came to the United States twice, but there is no word yet on whether we’ll see the 599XX on track here any time soon.

The 599 with the Handling GTE package gets a new grille, tweaked V12 engine software and a tuned transmission for faster shifts. It adds about $25,000 to the sticker price. GTE stands for Gran Turismo Evoluzione.

The Ferrari California was also shown, ahead of its arrival in showrooms in June in North America.
