Fioravanti designed Ferrari SP1 of the Portfolio Program

In case you didn’t know, Ferrari does custom cars, where it partners up with design firms Pininfarina, Fioravanti and Zagato, and offers custom cars to very wealthy customers. Called the SP1 (Special Project 1), the Fioravanti-designed  special, which is based on the F430, was built for prominent Ferrari collector and Japanese business executive Junichiro Hiramatsu, who is widely known for his impressive Ferrari collection and is the first to complete the new “Portfolio” program. The SP1 features custom bodywork by Leonardo Fioravanti, who’s past works for Ferrari include the Dino, Daytona, P5, P6, 512 Berlinetta Boxer, 365 GT4 2+2, the 308 GTB and the 288 GTO. The initiative gives the extremely rich the opportunity to work with various Italian design houses with full factory support to commission custom creations.

Do you remember that undisguised mystery Ferrari prototype that was spied at the Fiorano racetrack back last August? Well after initial speculation settled down, the prevailing wisdom suggested was the car is an one-off coachbuilt creation designed by former Pininfarina  (and now independent) stylist Leonardo Fioravanti for one wealthy customer. In the second issue of Ferrari’s official magazine, the reports were confirmed.

Called the SP1 (for Sport Prototype 1), the Fioravanti-designed special, which is based on the F430, was built for prominent Ferrari collector and Japanese business executive Junichiro Hiramatsu, who is widely known for his impressive Ferrari collection and is the first to complete the new “Portfolio” program. The initiative gives the extremely wealthy the opportunity to work with various Italian design houses (including Fioravanti, Pininfarina and Zagato) with full factory support to commission custom creations.

Customers will have the chance to personalize the look of their unique vehicles which are based on the Enzo, F430 or 612 (the 599 and the new California are for the time being not in the program), but need to retain certain structural requirements.

The 490hp 4.3-liter V8 engine in the SP1 went unchanged.
