Ferrari may have just unveiled the 599 GTB HGTE 60F1 special edition, but the ultimate 599 is and will always remain the GTO version. It is powered by a V12 engine delivering a total of 670 HP at 8250 rpm with a maximum torque of 457 lb-ft at 6500 rpm. It rockets the car from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.35 seconds, while top speed goes up to an impressive 208 mph.

Now, with such illustrative numbers, the sound coming out of that powerful engine should be music to anyone’s ears. As luck would have it, someone spotted a very cool gray 599 GTO this past weekend at Motor4Toys, a charity car show for the Christmas holiday. And the driver was kind enough to allow one of the guests of the show to record a walkaround of the car, along with the acceleration sounds of the engine as the car is driven off at the end of the video! Enjoy!

This video is filmed by a YouTube user 4WheelsofLux for his 400th celebratory video.
It looks like this person that made this video is a friend of someone that owns a Ferrari 599 GTO and they take it for a spin in a metropolitan city in Dubai. They go around a couple times in a circle because the video shows the same street signs twice, and when the person edited the video, he alternates from the rear angle, where he has a camera mounted on the back, to the cabin shot.
The sound of the engine is sweet, but the driver really doesn’t open it up for any duration because I think he’ll get pulled over for speeding.

Being the Ferrari’s most powerful V12-engined production car of all time, Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano features a 6.0-liter V12 engine derived directly from the Enzo supercar, producing 620 hp at 7,600 rpm and 446 pound-feet of torque at 5,600 rpm.

Now Ferrari prepares the successor for the 599 GTB Fiorano, code named F152 and has started testing it. Well, you have the chance to see it here, because spy photographers managed to catch it on camera.

Here you can see a a typical mule, under which chopped up 599 GTO body is the new chassis and powertrain. Keep in mind that, the F152 will look nothing like this at all. Powered by a modified version of the great 6.3 liter V12, this one will get direct injection and probably stay rear-wheel-drive only. Power is expected to climb close to 700 horsepower, if not more, and will connect to the rear wheels via the new seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

While Ferrari FF is more the family orientated family car for everyday use, the 599 successor will be the true super sportscar thanks to the use of more aluminium and carbon fibre.

So far the real name and details about pricing are still unknown, but expect to debut in 2012 being priced slightly more than the current 599 GTB Fiorano, which cost $320,000.

Despite the fact that it is a special car, with a special design, many tuning companies like Mansory or Dartz want to leave their unique mark on  the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano. Following this line, Vörsteiner tried to put their touch on this car and succeeded. About a week ago it was previewed on the Internet and it was said that this package is set to be unveiled shortly. Well, it has debut at this year’s Concorso Italiano.

Known as being a German aftermarket firm, which makes body kits and wheel upgrades for a variety of vehicles, particularly Bentleys, Mercedes, Porsches and BMWs, Vörsteiner felt the Ferrari 599 GTB didn’t look aggressive enough and developed a body kit for the standard 599 GTB Fiorano to make the car look more like its track-going brother. The result is the Vörsteiner Ferrari 599-VX.

They called the new car “599-VX”, a beauty which imbues the 599 GTB with some of the visual aggression of the 599 GTO and 599XX. This new tuning pack for 599 GTB from Vörsteiner includes an eight-piece body kit with a new front end, hood, rear deck lid, side skirts, rear intake panel and rear bumper with integrated diffuser, all made of carbon fiber for maximum strength and minimum weight. In addition it comes with a set of lightweight wheels forged from aircraft-grade aluminum. Everything is finished off with a beautiful matte white vinyl wrap from 3M.

As a reminder, in standard form, the 2011 Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano comes fitted with a 6.0-liter V12 engine that makes 612 hp and 448 lbs-ft of torque and has two transmission options: a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automated manual with F1 Superfast steering column-mounted shift paddles that allow for extremely quick gear changes.

Cristiano Ronaldo is arguably the best footballer in the world who loves (or at least the most expensive) fast cars! Ronaldo seems to miss his old red Ferrari 599 GTB. Now he has upgraded to a hot, new, jet-black Ferrari 599 GTO. The sleek black paintjob and blacked out windows have many calling the Portuguese player’s car the ‘Batmobile.’

It was back in 2009 that Ronaldo crashed his old sports car in a tunnel in England. He was on his way to workout with Manchester United at the time. It took Cristiano about two years to replace the car.

Since the time of the crash, Manchester United transferred his contract to Real Madrid. The timing seems right to dump some cash on a new sports car. Cristiano Ronaldo’s new car is said to have cost him about 350,000 Euros (just about a half-million dollars US).

How long will it take Cristiano Ronaldo to pay his new toy off? Less than two weeks. His current Real Madrid contract pays him about $320,000 a week to put his boot on a round ball.

Can you fault a guy who loves fast cars and has plenty of cash for getting a new toy? Aside from his old Ferrari, he has also owned Porsches, Bentleys and Mercedes. One thing is certain: this footballer drives in style.

Ferrari is preparing the world for its first hybrid supercar — and this prototype looks to be solid proof that the project is well under way.

The Maranello firm has been talking about a hybrid supercar since the 2010 Geneva motor show when it unveiled the Hybrid Concept, based on a standard 599. The firm’s goal is to develop hybrid technology to get its fleet average CO2 emissions down to around 240g/km by 2018, a significant reduction from last year’s figure of 310g/km.

Spied testing in Germany, this two-seater looks at first glance to be a ‘cut and shut’ 599 GTO, running as a mule for the all-new 599 due in 2013.

But its red-on-white German ‘pre-registration’ plates give away its identity as a test bed for Ferrari’s hybrid tech. Ferrari prototypes normally wear Italian ‘Prova’ identification plates, but those have been ditched while this prototype is driven in Germany to throw spy photographers off the scent.

Ferrari is keen to disown any knowledge of its hybrid prototype, but the ‘S’ on this car’s plates means it is registered in Stuttgart, home of German supply giant Bosch, which is thought to be helping Ferrari with the engineering and software set-up.

The cut-about 599 GTO body panels are covering up a well finished car underneath, whose details appear to mark it out as a California, Ferrari’s V8-powered coupé-convertible. The California’s headlamps, wheels, chromed wheel nuts, folding metal roof shutlines, brake caliper and distinctive instrument binnacle can all be seen.

However, the revised arrangement of the test mule’s exhaust pipes is an important new detail. The standard California stacks its twin rear pipes on top of each other, rather than two pairs of side by side pipes as seen here.

That may be linked to new routings for the exhausts, dictated by the hybrid powertrain and its space-consuming battery.

Ferrari’s chosen design package for its hybrid sports cars can be seen in its patent drawings. It features two electric motors — a low-capacity one at the front to drive ancillaries when running on electric power alone, and a rear-mounted one rated at 100bhp and 110lb ft — with a pack of slim battery cells spread over the floorpan.

Although the hybrid electric equipment added 100kg to the kerb weight of the 599 Hybrid Concept shown last year at Geneva, Ferrari was confident that its on-road performance was improved, with 0-100mph in 10.4sec, an improvement of 0.6sec. Interestingly, the 599 concept’s centre of gravity — a key factor in determining a car’s dynamic ability — remained the same.

Also under development are a super-fast traction control system that works by reversing the electric motor’s torque rather than cutting engine power, and an ‘electronic torque shaping’ system that feeds in small torque inputs from the electric motor during acceleration. This helps maintain momentum during gearchanges and is felt as a more linear throttle response. The California test mule is likely to be running this set-up.

Just because you own a Ferrari, that’s no indication you actually know what you’re doing behind the wheel. This 458 Italia owner proves that fact abundantly.

After narrowly escaping a slide into the gravel traps, the red with black-striped 458 in the video below comes to the same turn–this time about 20 mph hotter–and fails to escape, sliding hard into the wall. You’d think the first trip through the dirt would have been a warning.

This is the second Ferrari to bend metal at the Vallelunga Ferrari Club Italia event, following the wrecked 599 GTO we brought you last Thursday. Unlike the 599, however, this Italia looks like its damage can be repaired, though we can’t say as much for the owner’s pride.

While we are happy to see that at least some owners of the rare Ferrari 599 GTO (of which only 599 examples will be built) take their cars out to their natural habitat on the racetrack, it’s always a sad sight when one of those exotics ends up like this.
The Youtube poster of the video says that the driver lost control of the car “at the end of the straight at 250km/h (155mph)”, but given the relatively modest damages to the 599 GTO, we reckon that he either had a lot of space in front of him or the crash occurred at much lower speeds, perhaps even both.

As always, Ferrari has been synonym with high performance and dream machines. Throughout the prestigious history, the constructor from Maranello gave birth to some of the most spectacular supercars in the world, such as the Testarossa, the F40, the F50 or the Enzo. The 2000 period is strongly linked with the substantial number of victories and trophees obtained by the company’s owned motorsport team – the Scuderia Ferrari. A lot of the ultimate technologies and solutions found on the F1 single-seaters were used to develop the latest street models that Ferrari launched in the past 4-5 years. Moreover, Michael Schumacher, former 7-times world champion in Formula 1, was frequently asked to share his indisputable technical knowledge and expertise with the Ferrari engineers in the long experimental phases one new model has to undergo on the way to becoming a serial production car. Among the masterpieces tweaked by the skillful German driver is the 599 GTB Fiorano, officially premiered in 2006.

It took the place of the old and tacky 575M Maranello and established itself a strong position on the market as a true, fashionable grand tourismo berlinetta. What else was the powering solution if not a traditional V12 engine, with a massive displacement of 5999 cubic centimeters? Performance figures indicate a maximum speed of over 330 km/h and a sprint from 0 up to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds. The 599 features an all-aluminium construction frame and several high-end systems reminiscent of Formula 1: the F1-SuperFast gearbox capable of changing gears in only 100 ms (faster than the blink of an eye), the F1-TRAC system that takes care to ensure maximum possible grip depending on the situation, the SCM suspension control system and the evolved Manettino, the traditional switch placed on the steering wheel, that controls the entire vehicle dynamics.

Even though the car it’s now almost five years old, you could barely sense that. Initial plans were to revamp the 599 at the middle of its career, but now the Ferrari executives have changed their minds. Boosted by the immediate success the new FF model had, they said this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to use some of the technical fortune of the already famous all-wheel-drive tourer to create a worthy heir for the illustrious 599 GTB Fiorano.

The new Ferrari is expected to appear some time in late 2012 and will obviously showcase a direct petrol injection V12 powerplant, modified starting from the unit used by 599 GTO special series model, that should boast at least 700 hp. Ferrari are confident that using aluminium instead of carbon fiber, for example, to execute the chassis and the space frame is still the way to go if you want to preserve a high level of safety in addition to keeping the weight as low as possible and improving body strength and stiffness. However, some parts and panels of the new car will be cast out of composite materials.

Technically speaking, the future GT will mark a huge leap ahead of the 599 model thanks to gaining the complex multi-link rear axle system and the seven-speed dual-clutch transaxle tranny from the more recent Ferrari 458 Italia, California and FF. A new generation of the clever E-DIFF electronically-governed rear differential will also be developed to offer great driving sensations. No four-wheel-drive variant is in the pipeline at the moment, but you never know. First deliveries to customers could be programmed in early 2013 for Europe and in the middle of the year for the United States of America. Base pricing could exceed 330,000 US dollars, given the impressive technology package. Looking at the unstoppable appetite for the latest supercars that rolled off the factory line at Maranello, it is not hard to predict a lengthy list of wealthy clients will hand in orders for the new Ferrari tourer long before it’s unveiled.
